Spartacus: Forever Our Sparty
Spartacus entered this world on 9 September 2013 in North Carolina, born into a line of champions. All his siblings were exquisite, yet Sparty carried something uniquely his own: the sky in his blue eye, the earth in his brown, and a black-and-white coat that seemed painted by an artist with a generous hand.
A few weeks later, he crossed states to join us in New York, becoming the quiet heartbeat of our home—a presence felt more than heard. He savored life as he did his favorite foods—turkey, lamb, beef—and the world itself: waves racing him at beaches, meadows welcoming his windlike runs, snow turning him into a child of wonder, every car ride a hymn of freedom if the window was open.
Gentle yet sovereign, Sparty guarded his individuality with comical dignity, staging melodious protests whenever commands threatened his selfhood. It was never disobedience—just a declaration: I understand you… but I must remain myself. Even his escapades into the woods carried the trust that he always returned to his people.
Mischievous in subtle ways, he was a guardian of toys, a quiet introvert, a small monk of stillness. Noise unsettled him; barking was rare, his voice sacred. In dog parks, he chose dignity over disorder; outdoors, he chased squirrels, rabbits, and deer with playful delight, never cruelty. With Carlo and Zen, he was a tender, wise leader—protective, affectionate, and quietly authoritative.
Over twelve extraordinary years, Spartacus became more than a pet; he was a way of living. He reminded us to follow our joy, to love without spectacle, and to keep our inner worlds free. Then, on an ordinary walk on 12 September 2025, hemangiosarcoma took him, leaving a quiet too deep to measure.
He left as he lived—gracefully, humbly, teaching us that love is fragile and eternal. Spartacus— our Sparty, the saintly wanderer with one sky-blue eye and one earth-brown eye—etched into our lives a love that will endure, a life that will forever inspire depth, devotion, and unspoken beauty
